I have long been a proponent of the buddha bowl! I love everything all smashed together in one vessel, married together by a gorgeous sauce. Veggies, greens, grains, beans… YUM.
Recently I’ve been seeing a lot about these “dragon bowls” and being a Bowl-efficinado I quickly began researching what a “Dragon Bowl”… Consensus was inconclusive.
Some sites claimed a buddha bowl and dragon bowl are the same thing. Some said it boiled down to the sauce.
The Blenderist has a pretty awesome looking “Dragon Sauce” which looks like a coconut milk peanut butter base. Sounds good but also just sounds like “peanut sauce.” I was mildly disappointed.
This lead to Choosing Chia’s post about Dragon Bowls. It sounds like her sauce is meant to recreate a sauce a restaurant she frequents in Montreal.
I made a KarmaKaii version of this sauce and..
I’ve remade this sauce almost EVERYDAY since. I can’t get enough of it. My Omni Boyfriend is in love with it. I’m obsessed. I’ve made a few tweaks and I wanted to share my version below.
Dragon Sauce/ Incredible sauce/Karma Sauce/ Liquid Joy (I’m making all this up)
- ¼ cup nutritional yeast
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- the juice of half a lemon
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 3-5 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp liquid aminos
- 1 garlic clove, minced or 1/2 tsp garlic powder or BEST 3 cloves of roasted garlic.
Mix it all together. I prefer it blended up so the consistency is smooth.
